“Remembering Gozo” is a sculptural response to the beautiful island of Gozo.
The island traditions are being lost including making silver filigree jewellery, lace making and creating ganutell flower displays from embroidery silk and wire.
Gozo is carpeted in beautiful wildflowers during spring but it is also littered with hunters’ used gun cartridges.
“Remebering Gozo” pays homage to the island with a wildflower cast in 925 sterling silver, a silver filigree flower and an embroidery silk ganutell flower. These are held in 3D printed gun cartridges filled with lead pellets, painted with metalic acrylics. These stand on a silver sheet imprinted with Gozitan lace with a Maltese cross.
