Gold and Pearl Aviation Pendant

I designed this for a special man who wanted a pendant to sum up his life achievements and his new future as he retired. He specifically asked for pearls to be incorporated.

His career was in aviation but he loves sailing. After discussing several designs, the one he chose included a stylised propeller on one side, with open wire representing a mast and full billowing sail on the other. These were created in 750 / 18ct yellow gold.

My design used pearls to represent his family. The black baroque pearl moves freely within the wire representing his wife, who is a free spirit. The 4 pink pearls move up and down on the 18 carat gold wire symbolising that his children may move away but they are always in his heart.

His wife clearly wanted to “borrow it” after it was completed.
